I have had this recurring dream for 40 years at least. When I was twelve my father bought me two ponies, Duke and Dutchess, and they had a baby, Ollie and Dutchess was bred back and 11 1/2 months later we had another baby, Dolly. When I was 16 we gave the ponies to good friends with the rule that they would give them back if they no longer wanted them. A few years later I found out they sold them. End of story. Now for 40 years this is my recurring dream. I go to the barn and when I get there I realize I have not been there to feed or water them for at least one year. I am so afraid to go in the barn for fear they will be dead or very thin. I work up the courage and go in or find them in back of the barn outside and they are very healthy. It is so scary and I usually wake up and I am sweating profusely and I have to take the covers off and lay there for quite a while before I get cold and cover up again. Then I fall back to sleep. Sometimes I have this dream once a month and then at other times it will be six months. I currently have horses, but I don't dream about them. It's always the ponies and they are since long past to another life! I wish I could make this one go away, but after 40 years I think it is impossible.

Recurring dreams are unsettling to say the least. I often dream of tornados that are swirling around and destroying buildings. In the dream I am alway trying to find my daughter and get her down a long flight of cement steps to get away from the menacing destructive cloud. So far, I have always made it to safety. I think I have told this dream to my daughter too many times when she was young because it seems she may be overly frightened of tornados now. When she was small she would gather blankets, toys and food and make a tent or blanket nest whenever we would hear the siren warnings. I doubt she does that now, but I still have the dream.
